Sunflower Oil

Sunflower Oil

Sunflower Oil is an excellent oil for skincare as its packed full of Linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that your skin needs to stay healthy. The oil is suitable for all skin types, and can be particularly good for those with oily skin. It is high in Vitamins A, B, D and E which help fight damaging free radicals in the skin.

Sunflower Oil contains Lecithin which boosts the oils emollient powers, giving you soft and smooth skin. It makes an effective moisturiser, hydrating, protecting and nourishing the skin.

Sunflower Oil is an effective addition to massage oil blends. It is a light oil that penetrates the skin at a medium pace, and it blends well with essential oils and it brings moisturising and lubricating properties that will leave your skin feeling silky soft and nourished.

This wonderfully balanced oil, with its fatty acids, antioxidants and nutrients, is beneficial for your hair too. Feed your hair with our Sunflower Oil, for lustrous, shiny and conditioned hair.

All vegetable oils and fats are 100% fat and are generally high in calories (on average about 120 calories per tablespoon). Vegetable oils are often used in food preparation for salad dressings, cooking, frying, baking, sauces and marinades. As a general guide, virgin and unrefined oils have more of the oil’s natural flavour and lend themselves well for use in cold dishes. Refined oils generally have longer shelf lives and may have a higher smoke point and therefore be better for high heat cooking, but this varies depending on the type of oil. Each oil has its own distinct flavour and nutrient and Fatty Acid composition, so each oil may be used for different purposes depending on your need.

Certified cruelty free and vegan friendly.

How to Use

Use on its own as a face or body moisturiser or can be blended to make your own balms, lotions and serums. Can be used as a gentle and effective cleanser and make-up remover.

Makes an excellent base oil for massage, blend with your favourite essential oil for added benefits. We recommend a blend of Grapefruit (#115), Palmarosa (#136) and Thyme (#166) combined with Sunflower oil for an invigorating, awakening massage. Dilute at a ratio of 1% essential oil of the finished blend.

Why not try making your own deep conditioning treatment by combining Sunflower with Coconut Oil (#203) and a few drops of Clary Sage (#189), massage into your hair and scalp, leave on for an hour, or overnight, then wash as normal. Begin to lather the shampoo before adding water as this will help emulsify the oil so it will rinse out easier.

Beauty Hack

Fight the frizz with a little Sunflower Oil. Simply take a very small amount of oil in your hands and gently smooth along your hair, taming the frizz and smoothing the flyaways.

Sunflower Oil is an excellent oil for making your own macerations. Steeping dried herbs, flowers or plants in the oil infuses the wonderful benefits of the botanicals into the oil, so why not try making your own wonderful infusions at home? You can use the infusion as it is as a body oil or as an ingredient in your homemade beauty formulations.

As with any new product always conduct a patch test before first use.

Food Use

Spruce up your dishes by adding some oil to your cuisine. This versatile oil can be used in salad dressings, smoothies, pasta dishes, a dip for bread, drizzled over grilled fish or meat, roasted vegetables and many more. It adds flavour and richness.
